Please ask the Division of Human Resources to identify which of these positions have someone currently holding each of the applicable titles, and who those employees are. If these are requests for new positions not yet filled, those should be considered separately than completing the documentation for people already employed.

It appears that the recently approved an expenditure of more than a million dollars to provide space for a private company to operate rent-free. That doesn't seem like an appropriate use of public money.

Children at magnet schools are generally more privileged than students at neighborhood schools. I believe it's a mistake to fund three-year-old programs at magnet schools ahead of three-year-old programs that would serve kids who might have a stronger need for that opportunity. Also, I am concerned about any step down the slippery slope toward privatization.

Until every four-year-old in the community is able to walk into their neighborhood school and have an opportunity to enroll, we have no business funding three-year-old classes.

Combining the two site codes should have happened years ago, when students from the two attendance zones started attending the same classes in the same rooms with the same teachers. Whenever the new school in Brownfields is completed and White Hills vacated, great care should be taken to maintain the White Hills campus and to find its next best use.

Please defer this item until the regular board meeting. It's not appropriate to consider these proposals when they didn't get posted until late afternoon on the date of the special board meeting.
