Please stop with these failed @if you build it they will come,” spending. You need to address the real reasons people will not come in some schools. During the Obama administration there was lots of spending on new buildings and new big ideas and they didn’t change outcomes for most people. Look at what happened when you all did The Dufrocq School and now Park. The Dufrocq School is a temporary childcare. The whites just won’t stay. Park elementary will now kick out neighborhood students if they can’t maintain the grade even though it was built primarily to serve lower income students. Big beautiful buildings but no one supervisors if they follow through with the plans. And they don’t come back to the board they just get board approval and then they’ll do whatever the hell they want including passing it over to charter schools or failing Kids on purpose so they can use the space for something else. The district needs to fix the schools it Hass and not expand to serve students tha

I am asking you to reject this budget request. The section that states "there are a plethora of variables. . . " should give you serious concerns. Ours is not a wealthy district that can afford variables in the millions of dollars.. MFP dollars must be spent on each student's high school classes. ESSER and grants cannot fully fund the promised associate's degree of 60 hours of coursework. That in itself is so unrealistic that it should be stricken from the website and brochures. Realistic expectations should be set to guide the number of dual enrollment classes that students can pass and the number that can be funded the duration of the "pilot" classes' high school career. At best, you should allow the program to continue at Glen Oaks but it is not ready to be implemented district-wide. You also need to take seriously the students who earned Ds (36), Fs, (20), and Ws (14). Dollars spent on their tuition was wasted. Worst of all, the pilot hurt their self-esteem and transcript.

United Faith Leaders support the proposed expenditures for the Pathways to Bright Futures Program. Viewing the current performance statistics of the Glen Oak Senior Highschool Pilot, it is abundantly clear that this program is indeed building a pathway to brighter futures for the classically and typically underserved students in our community. After hearing our State Superentendant and some members of the BESE board admit to underserving Some our schools, i.e Capital Highschool, I am 100% convinced that BOLD actions such as the Pathways to Bright Futures program are LONG overdue. Cut The Check.

Why is The Dufrocq School not listed on preschool expansion yet they are expanding two more preschool classrooms into that building? Recent research shows that if not done correctly if no one explains exactly what high-quality preschool means public preschool can actually be worse for kids. Google TN and preschool study. Dr. Long Island should know because he went to Vanderbilt. Haphazardly claiming that these programs will be high-quality but not explaining how that will be measured is a miss use of public funds. The district has a record of claiming things are high-quality without explaining what that means. This is absolutely supplementing privatized daycare where they pay workers really poorly and have high turnover in an effort for someone to pad resumes that they started universal pre-K hoping the Biden administration will pick up those costs later. BRAC Doesn’t care about long-term outcomes of preschool they care about temporary daycare for workers that don’t get paid fair
